Who discommends: Tanya, JW, Margaret

Having read this book only after the Anita Blake books, I have to say that it shows Hamilton's early preferences for certain types of characters but I did enjoy it (more for what it reminded me of, though). I just wish the series had been continued to tie up the loose ends.--Kathleen

Tried this but didn't get on too well: I think I was in the wrong frame of mind.--Tanya (30 Jul 99)

I'll have to go down as a discommend for this one. I didn't hate it, but it was too incomplete. I felt like I was reading book two of a trilogy without any knowledge of books 1 and 3. It also felt more than a bit amateurish compared to her Anita Blake books.--JW (04 Aug 99)

Laurell Hamilton does like to corrupt her characters doesn't she? I didn't enjoy this particularly but do have a copy and will probably read the sequel, if it ever appears. I felt she went for action at the expense of character development and that the characters behaved somewhat incomprehensibly.--Margaret (15 Oct 00)

I finished Nightseer so I must have enjoyed it at the time (I will put books down if they don't work for me) but don't remember much about it now.--Danielle (18 Oct 00)
