TEMERAIRE to Be Peter Jackson Movie

His Majesty's DragonIt looks like director Peter Jackson will be making Naomi Novik’s TEMERAIRE into a movie or three. Awesome. Here’s an excerpt from The Guardian web site:

“Téméraire is a terrific meld of two genres that I particularly love - fantasy and historical epic,” Jackson told The Hollywood Reporter. “I can’t wait to see Napoleonic battles fought with a squadron of dragons. That’s what I go to the movies for.” Jackson is also planning to turn Téméraire into a computer game franchise. “As I was reading these books,” adds the New Zealander director, “I could see them coming to life in my mind’s eye. These are beautifully written novels, not only fresh, original and fast-paced, but full of wonderful characters with real heart.”

  1. Rockin’! This is a great series… and Peter Jackson has done a good job with fantasy so far. I can’t wait to see what this looks like on screen.

  2. Sigh.. I like the british cover and title better than the american one. Though the american one is not hideous, thats good.

Yay about this news though! :)

  3. booyah! I love the books and Jackson did a pretty damn good job with LOTR so hopefully this will be awesome, unlike that horible Eragon movie that sucked horibbly (if paolini had been smart he would have treid to get Jackson instead the schmuck who directed that movie)

  4. by the way… does jai know that it was WRITTEN and RELEASED in the US before it was in the UK?

  5. Dude im not a guy who reads books at all but last year i read a chapter book with out pretending to read it and it was temeraire book 1 and that book was the best book i never thought I would read and now im already starting on the second on the second book and so far its realy good and sad…but yea peter jackson should do a movie of temeraie. and if my name looks familiar im from starfox online. temeraire rules!

  6. I found this series about 2 weeks ago and was very disappointed that I read thru it so quick lol I think it’s written wonderfully and I hope if it does get movie rights that they try to keep to the story line and maybe tv show?

  7. loved this series, encompassing as it does two of my favourite genres. if it does become a film it will be eagerly anticipated. Just have to hope the images in my head when i read the books will be replicated on the big screen.
