Who recommends: Preeti, Linda, Shelley, Rebekah, Lynn, Lori, Kathleen, Suzanne, Shelly
Who discommends:

I haven't read this for a while, but I remember it being an intricate novel, part mystery, part mythology. I also remember liking it a lot, and its sequel TWISTING THE ROPE, a little less.--Rebekah

Another of the greatest dragons in romance literature and a really successful contemporary fantasy-romance.--Kathleen

In case you haven't read it, a women is called to San Francisco by her daughter who's in some kind of trouble. Once there she meets a mysterious, wealthy gentleman of unknown origin, who becomes taken with her and offers to help with her troubles. The gentleman is helping because he is searching for a truth, and he believes he has finally met someone in this woman who can help him. This is another one of those small fantasies, like The Shape-Changers Wife, that is written on a personal level. I can't think of any other words for it but charming, wise and lovely. It's one of the best I've read.--Shelly (5 Oct 99)
