Pulse pounding (no pun intended) thrillers. They started out mainly mystery, but have been moving more towards horror (and therefore farther away from my tastes). The main character is human, but runs into werewolves, mummies, and falls for a vampire. You really care about all of the characters and the author skillfully plays them off of each other (a very tense love triangle!) Many plotlines going on at once, without confusing things or loosing the tension. One complaint for me is I can't read too many of these in a row, or else they'd get old.--Rebekah

I admit to a weakness for vampire romances (but NOT Anne Rice's books). One of the things I liked best about Vicki was the eye problems (I'm nearsighted)--they kept her from being too hard-edged.--Kathleen
