Who discommends:

The Ladies of Mandrigyn (1984)
The Witches of Wenshar (1987)
The Dark Hand of Magic (1990)

The famous mercenary captain Sun Wolf is kidnapped, and his second-in-command, Starhawk, attempts to trace and rescue him. As she does so, she realizes that her feelings for him are much deeper than she'd allowed herself to show.

The first book has a very strong element of romance, and Hambly manages to pull off a HEA even after you think it can't possibly work. The others are enjoyable "continuing adventures of" books.--Danielle

The series that starts with LADIES... is wonderful--I like Hambly's continuing to develop the 2 main characters and their relationship through the next books.--Kathleen

It's been quite a while since I've read these books but I remember enjoying all three. Sun Wolf and Starhawk make a good team.--Isabel (31 Jul 99)

Recommend. Loved this series. I was glad to check out Hambly's site once and saw that she seems to be open to adding books to just about all her series eventually.--Linda (17 Oct 00)

Recommend, although I didn't enjoy this series as much as I've enjoyed some other books she's written.--Margaret (08 Jul 01)
