Replies: 5 Comments Can I really only choose one? I would love more reviews and more news, but I suppose I would most like to see wider range of books chosen. Warprize seems to be widely regarded as one of the best fantasy/romances in the last year - it's exactly what you should be reviewing. All the new Tor and Luna lines should be covered. I enjoy books that I pull from the romance shelves just as much as I do from the sci fi shelves. There's not much difference a lot of the time. Anyway, I'm glad the site is back - I missed it this summer! Posted by Jill @ 09/24/2005 05:49 PM ET Jill has expressed my thoughts exactly. Living as I do in a country where one connot buy theese books in the shops, this is my chance for information and opinions on new books I then buy via the internet. Posted by Lise @ 09/25/2005 06:33 AM ET Lise and Jill: are you saying you want more romances reviewed? Specifically paranormal romances (PNR)? IMO most of them have very poor world-building, which is why *I* prefer romantic sf/fantasy. THere are a couple of sites with lots of info on PNR. As for Warprize, I thought it was a pretty decent book, but the spine says "romance", not "paranormal romance" or "fantasy", so *technically* it might not belong on this site. Posted by Linda @ 09/26/2005 10:16 PM ET Well, first of all, I don't think you can always go by what's on the spine. Tor's new line clearly says romance, but, in my opinion anyway, they should be reviewed on this site. I unfortunately have to agree that some of the storylines are pretty weak in the PNRs, and therefore it's hard to know which ones deserve reviewing. I suppose I too prefer the safety of buying sci fi and fantasy with romance in it, or proven lines such as Luna and Tor. But there ARE jewels in the PNR line sometimes and they certainly shouldn't be overlooked because of what the spine says. I guess I'm saying don't deliberately limit what should be reviewed. I enjoy a little bit of everything when it comes to fantasy and romance. Posted by Jill @ 09/27/2005 10:21 PM ET I guess I'm like most people and enjoy reading many different styles of books. So a review of a good PNR may tempt me to buy it. On the other hand, many books labelled "romance" are just that, and it is pointless to review a book that is drearily formulaic. Review the books that stand out, whichever category they have been published under. Posted by Becca @ 09/28/2005 03:38 PM ET
