Your poll attempts to split the field by type, but that's really hard to do. I tend to read (or avoid) authors once I've read them rather than to look for types. SF is about *all* the what-ifs, I think... I'm willing to try just about any of them if they read well and aren't stupidly plotted or characterized.

You're right, Steve, it is impossible to split SF by type. Given a particular book, I would often be hard pressed to put it in one of those categories. Still, I thought it would be interesting to see what else our readers like, so I went with the categories that Locus uses in their annual survey. I wish that our poll software would allow us to make multiple-choice polls!

Space opera is my fave so I chose "adventure SF".

I think Space Opera/Military SF is supposed to be lumped into adventure SF.
